Detail of a painting on wood by the painter Gaetano Pancaldi (1922-2014) from Piumazzo di Castelfranco Emilia in which a winter landscape is depicted with the "frost" technique developed by the painter himself and which consisted of placing the newly created painting in the cold in order to obtain an ice-like effect on the painting surface. This technique was refined over the years and became his distinctive trait.
The representation of nature and daily life were among the artist's favorite subjects, who was very active and well-known in the Modena area due to his activity as a poster designer and the numerous exhibitions he held. A tireless painter, Pancaldi worked with unchanged passion until recent years.
