Subject: city view in winter
Support and technique: watercolour on cardboard. Made with the "frost technique" to obtain the ice effect in some areas of the pictorial surface, such technique consisted of placing the painting in the actual cold still fresh and then processed later. This effect was created by the painter Pancaldi and occurs above all in many of his works in the maturity stage. Author: Gaetano Pancaldi (Piumazzo di Castelfranco Emilia, 1922-2014).
There representation of nature and everyday life were among the favorite subjects of the artist who was very active and well-known in the Modena area due to his activity as a poster designer for the Communist Party of Modena and the numerous exhibitions held. wet painting and subsequently work on it again. He used this technique
starting from the early '60's and kept working on it for all his life
until the extraordinary results of the 80's and 90's ice paintings. Artist:
