DESCRIPTION
Subject: suggestive country landscape with bare trees entitled "Sleet" on the back. Part of a series of winter-themed watercolors much loved by the author. Signed.
Support and technique: watercolor on cardboard.
Author: Gaetano Pancaldi (Piumazzo di Castelfranco Emilia, 1922-2014).
The representation of nature and daily life were among the artist's favorite subjects, who was very active and well-known in the Modena area due to his activity as a poster designer for the Communist Party of Modena and the numerous exhibitions he held. A tireless painter, Pancaldi worked with unchanged passion until recent years.
Note: the watercolors and drawings they propose were often studies that Pancaldi made to refine his technique, many subjects in fact were re-proposed by the author in larger paintings in oil or watercolor with the frost technique.
