DESCRIPTION
Oil painting on wood by the Piedmontese painter Simone Salassa (Montanaro Canavese, 1863 - Ivrea, 1930) which depicts a church. Signed lower right. On the back it contains biographical information on the artist where the date of death is indicated as 1900 while it was in 1930.

born in Montanaro Canavese on 12 March 1863, died in Ivrea on 16 October 1930. He dedicated himself to genre paintings and landscapes. He made his debut in Turin in 1898 with "Serene in the sky and storm in the heart" and "Moment of inspiration". In 1901 he exhibited "Autumn Poetry" at the Venice Biennale. In 1906, at the Milan exhibition, he sent "Christ and Satan" and "Morning of the peak of Monbarone". For some years he was a member of the Promotrice of Turin and in 1902 he presented "Hunting in the swamp" and "Mesto idillio" at that Quadrennial; in 1908 "Sirio Lake near Ivrea"; "The castle of Reppolo"; "Laughing Nature"; "Portrait of a Lady" and six "Impressions". She dedicated the last years of her existence, dedicated to painting and shy of honors, to teaching art in the Canavese capital.
