DESCRIPTION

Ancient engraving depicting a Ligurian landscape by the painter and engraver Giacomo Picollo (Genoa 1905 - Sestri Ponente 1983).

Painter, engraver and ceramist, he studied at the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti, pupil of the painters Maragliano and Bertelli. With the portraitist Amisani and with the surrealist Carpi, he completed his artistic studies at the Brera Academy in Milan.
He made his debut in 1927 at the Exhibition of the Promoter of Fine Arts, in 1929 at the first "Art Exhibition Ligure", presenting two paintings "Adam and Eve" and "My father". He was among the founders, in 1931, of the futurist group Sintesi.
Also notable his activity as a ceramist; friend of Tullio d'Albisola, he executed numerous works of a futurist nature. He was also part of the Genoese group La Casana.
His participation in numerous national exhibitions relief: the Venetian Biennials, the Roman Quadrennials (during the years Trenta), the Bergamo Prize (exhibition on the Italian landscape).

His personal exhibitions are also numerous in Genoa, La Spezia, Rome and Milan.
Abandoning futurist themes, he followed up with a production artistic linked to the themes of the Italian twentieth century, dedicating himself to prevalence of the execution of landscapes.
In 1943 he was named Academician of Merit of Ligustica, in 1967 member of the Italian Archaeological Academy in Rome.
His works are found in Genoa at the Accademia Ligustica, at Gallery of Modern Art of Genoa and in numerous other galleries public: Rome, Turin, Milan, Savona, La Spezia, Bergamo and pressola Picture gallery of the Franciscan Gallery of Assisi.
