Detail of watercolor painting with frost technique on paper applied on wood by the painter Gaetano Pancaldi (1922-2014) from Piumazzo di Castelfranco Emilia in which an idealized winter landscape is depicted and worked with the "frost" technique developed by the painter himself and which consisted of placing the newly created painting in the cold in order to obtain an effect similar to ice on the pictorial surface. This technique was refined over the years and became his distinctive trait.
The representation of nature and daily life were among the artist's favorite subjects, whowas very active and well-known in the Modena area due to his work as a poster designer and the numerous exhibitions he held.A tireless painter, Pancaldi worked with unchanged passion until recent years.
