Subject: portrait of a 70s/80s glam rock guitarist, in this case his son Leonardo.
Support and technique: watercolor and oil on paper. Created with the "frost technique" to obtain the ice effect in some areas of the pictorial surface, this technique consisted of placing the still fresh painting in the actual cold and then working on it subsequently. This effect was invented by the painter Pancaldi and occurs in many of his works, especially in the mature phase.
Author: Gaetano Pancaldi (Piumazzo di Castelfranco Emilia, 1922-2014).
The representation of nature and daily life were among the artist's favorite subjects, who was very active and well-known in the Modena area due to his activity as a poster designer for the Communist Party of Modena and the numerous exhibitions he held. A tireless painter, Pancaldi worked with unchanged passion until recent years.
