Biblical scene, probably a study made in his youth inspired by an ancient painting. Work by the French painter and illustrator Pierre Eugène Duteurtre known as DUT (1911-1989). Part of a large collection of drawings by the French artist that we recently purchased and that you can find in our shop. These are most likely works made in his youth as exercises and studies.
Short biography of the artist: Pierre Eugene Duteurtre, known as DUT, was born in 1911 in Deuil-la-Barre (Val-d'Oise, France), was a French cartoonist and painter who began his career in 1930 at the Société parisienne d'audition (SPE), in 1947 he began working at the Marijac publishing house. After a long and successful career, in 1968 he abandoned comics to devote himself exclusively to painting. He died in 1989 in the Netherlands.
